I have yet to taste this cake as made it late last night and was slicing it into the wee hours as I'm a great believer in freezing cake. I froze 9 for my wedding day! The sponges came out quite slanted for some reason and the icing was not the easiest to work with but it was much easier to smooth it out once the icing set. Recipe is from The Great British Bakeoff! Taste test to follow.......Updating on taste test now. My husband found it too sweet and at first I did too but now I actually really like it. Less icing within each layer would be better however.
